Fall is the most colorful time of the year bringing parades, craft fairs, and harvest festivals. Leaf peeping showcases the oranges, reds, and yellows of the season and are something you cannot miss! When leaf peeping, stop at the corn mazes, apple orchards, and pumpkin patches for all of your harvest needs. Farm markets have maple products, jams, jellies, and occasionally local Amish goods. Walking the Canalway Trail, Wintergreen Park and Gorge, or the Charleston State Forest is a sight to see with the change of the leaves.
Visit Sundae on the Farm to experience a working farm. Sundae on the Farm rotates each year to different farms throughout the County offering family fun such as horse drawn wagon rides, animals on display, farm exhibits, farmers market, ice cream and more!
Fort Klock’s Giant Craft Fair hosting over 100 crafters and artisans on hand each September is another fall highlight. Fort Klock Historic Restoration is a 1750 fur trading post with a fortified stone house typifying structures of the French and Indian Period.
Hunting for big game such as white-tail deer and small game such as turkey and trapping are permitted in Rural Grove State Forest according to season. Please refer to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation for regulations, opening days and locations.
