Amtrak operates passenger trains from points south and west. Our local station is located at Route 5 and the west end of Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.

Bus transportation is available from New York City and stops at Church Street at the Riverfront Center, downtown Amsterdam. Greyhound and Trailways of New York service the area.

Albany International Airport is 30 minutes away.

Geo-Caching

Geo-Caching is a global wide phenomenon that is catching on quick not only worldwide, but right here in Montgomery County! People all over are going on ‘treasure hunts’ to find boxes full of trinkets and goodies that other people have left behind. The rules are if you take something, you have to leave something! Clues are given along with the GPS coordinates to make finding these buried treasures a little easier. Depending on where you are hunting you will either have a difficult find or an easy find! Don’t have a GPS tracker? Not a problem for most of the sights! The clues and hints that people leave on the website for Geo-Cache may be enough information alone in some cases.

In many instances Geo-cache is hidden in state parks, wooded areas, and many tourist sights, and historic landmarks. This is a great chance to get the kids off of the computer and the couch! Geo-caching isn't just a healthy family time event, but a great past time for friends, couples, and anyone who is looking for something fun and exciting. But be careful because you will get addicted to this global wide hunt!
