From Albany – From I-787 N, take exit 5 onto I-90 W toward Buffalo; Partial toll road 6.9 mi; Keep left to stay on I-90 W for 25.5 mi; Take Exit 27 for Amsterdam, Exit 28 for Fonda-Fultonville and Exit 29 for Canajoharie/Palatine Bridge

From Saratoga Springs – From Broadway, turn onto NY-29 W/Washington Street. After 5.4 miles, turn left onto Middleline Road. After 4.9 miles, turn right onto NY-67 W and continue for 17 miles into Amsterdam.

From Utica – Take I-90 East to Exit 27 for Amsterdam, Exit 28 for Fonda-Fultonville and Exit 29 for Canajoharie/Palatine Bridge

For passenger train service, Amsterdam (AMS) is served by the Maple Leaf Route, which runs from New York City’s Penn Station to Toronto, Ontario’s Union Station; and the Empire Route, which runs between Niagara Falls and Albany, NY.
The local station is between Division Street and Herrick Road.


Bus transportation is available between Amsterdam and New York City, stopping at the bus shelter on Church Street at the Riverfront Center in downtown Amsterdam. Tickets are not available at this terminal, but can be purchased online at least 2 hours before boarding.

Montgomery County Mobility-Bus Service is a public bus service serving routes in Montgomery County. Fares range from $1 to $5 per ride. Passes may be requested on the bus or at Brown Coach, 50 Venner Rd, Amsterdam, NY between 6am – 5pm, M-F. Times and stop locations are subject to change from schedule posted on website. Buses may not operate on legal holidays.


Albany International Airport is 30 minutes away.
Directions from Montgomery County to Airport: I-90 East to Exit 24; go through toll booth;
Follow signs to I-87 North (Montreal); I-87 North to Exit 4 (Four); At end of ramp turn left on Wolf Road;
at next stop light, turn left onto Albany Shaker Road; follow signs to terminal (1/2 mile)

Directions from Airport to Montgomery County: head northwest onAlbany International Airport road onto Watervliet-Shaker Road (CR 157); Turn left on Albany-Shaker Road (RT-155); Turn right and take ramp onto I-87S toward I-90; R=Take Exite 1E-W toward New York State Thruway/New York/Buffalo onto I-87 S/I-90 W (New York State Thruway S); Continue on I-90 toward I-88/Buffalo for 25.5 miles;
Take exit 27.
